Quarantine (2008)

Quarantine manages to be, in my opinion, one of the best examples of first-person, POV horror. It immerses you in a viseral world, which your mind reacts and you find your legs running (pounding) on the footstool/coffee table as you watch the scenes unfold. The film makes you feel unsafe and constantly on edge. The undoubtably ad-libbed dialouge is realistic enough to make it more believable. Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter's sister and real-life ex-wife of the actor who plays Dexter) sells the concept with gusto, especially towards the end.

My only complaint with first-person movies is they tend to be too shaky, there are at times that this is very disorienting. I know this is part of the charm of this film, the feeling of disorientation, but I don't want to go into a convulsion from watching a movie.

Quarantine is an potent example of scary moviemaking full of wince-worthy moments that will have you watching through your fingers.
